Tim Mulley, Scrutton Bland Group, Suffolk

I joined Scrutton Bland in 1990 having previously been an underwriter with Legal & General. I am the Senior Partner of the Scrutton Bland Group which includes being involved with an Accountancy practice but my heart is in the Insurance Broking business. Our client portfolio is made up of mainly owner-managed businesses and private clients, but in recent years we have developed a specialism in providing insurance solutions for charities, and have set up a successful insurance scheme to offer advice on risk management and insurance solutions to charities and not-for-profit organisations.

Scrutton Bland have been members of the network for over ten years, the reason for joining the Network was to get under an umbrella as we feared a storm was brewing in the industry. Our business has prospered and grown with the help of the Network despite the fact that the storm has probably got worse! The Governance committee now plays a really important part in helping Willis Towers Watson and the Networks team really understand the challenges of an independent insurance broker and we all directly benefit from the great work that they do, which is why I am so keen to join the team. Relationships with insurers have never been so important to us and I am really excited to see if I can play a part in bringing the Network brokers’ good and bad experiences to bear in improving existing relationships and bringing on new ones. My home life is all about the family, I can regularly be seen shouting on football and netball touchlines and, when time permits, I visit Old Trafford (please don’t hold that against me!).
